He has completed his graduation B.Music from Institute of Music and Fine Arts, Jammu (J&K). Sumit has won various college level singing competitions. He participated in Reality Show Bharat ki Shaan Season 2, Asia's Singing Superstar, he was also the sole contestant selected from Jammu Region to be called to Mumbai for Grand Finale of Benedryl Big Golden Voice by Big FM.
