Pallav Karmakar

Born in an illustrious family of musicians at bhilai, chhattisgarh, 1994 Pallav was exposed to indan classical music from early childhood. He started learning tabla at the age of six from his grandfather Shri Santosh Karmakar, a disciple of Pt. Ram Dhurvey, doyen of Delhi gharana. He then took his rigorous ‘taleem’ from his father Shri Rabindra Karmakar, an eminent tabla player. His talent is flourished and blossomed by performing from various stages and winning prizes in almost all the competitions during these days. Pallav is now grooming his talent under the tutelage of tabla maestro Pt. Mukund Bhale, Reader (tabla) and H.O.D, department of percussion's, Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwa vidyalaya, Khairagarh, since last six years.

His commendable achievements and performances are:-

• Awarded with national talent search scholarship under cultural talent search scholarship scheme by Center for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT), New Delhi (under the aegis of ministry of culture, Govt. of India) since 2005.

• Stood 2nd in the All Indian Radio music competition organized by AIR, India in the year 2013.

• Honoured with Pt. Nikhil Ghosh memorial promising artist of the year 2013, given by ITC Mumbai.

• Performed at NCPA Mumbai at the ITC award ceremony on January 2014.

• Secured 1st position in all India level music competition organised by kerala samajam, bhilai in the year 2013.

• Honoured with SURSARI samman by“Sursari Music Circle” Bhilai for his commendable achievements.

• Topped the Open Music & Dance Competition organized by S.R.G., Bhilai Steel Plant, consecutively 10 times consecutively (from year 2000 to 2010)

• Won 1st prize in the 41stAll India Music and Dance competition at Hyderabad which was jointly organized by navya natya samiti, Y.M.C.A and department of culture, Andhra Pradesh. (Year-2008).

• Won 1st prize in All Indian Multi-lingual Drama, Dance, Music Contest/Fest Global Harmony , Bhav Rag Taal which was organized by Bhartiya Akhil Sanskrutik Sangh, Pune, Maharashtra in year 2008 & 2009.

• Stood second position in the state level music competition organized by Sangeet sankalp, Bhilai(year-2003).

• Won 3rd prize in the All India Music and Dance competition organized by Kerela Samajam, Durg, Chhatisgarh (year-2004).

• Won 1st prize in the state level instrumental music competition organized by sangeet kala niketan, Bhilai (year-2008).

• Won 2nd prize in the SUR AND SAAZ state level music competition organized at Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh (year-2002).

•Won 1st prize in the state level Classical Music Competition organized by Sur Samman Music Society, Raipur,Chhattisgarh (january 2010).


Prestigious performances:-

• Performed in the children’s program BAL VRIND TV show telecast by Doordarshan, Raipur(year-2004 and 2007).

• yuva sangeet nritya mahotsav, organized by south & central cultural zone at Akola, Maharashtra.

• ‘Sansmaran’, organized by pt. Ashok Mukherjee music foundation, bhilai.

• 12th national level maa ghantasuni shahtriya sangeet samaroh, titlagarh, Orissa.
